Bead Crochet Jewelry

Bead crochet is one of my very favorite techniques. It is not easy to learn, but if you practice, practice, practice, it is well worth the effort. Once you learn the technique, you’ll be able to create so many different looks – some just by using different size beads. Crochet with beads is a flexible technique as well – it can be combined with other stitches or components to create fabulous designs with or without clasps.

Crocheting with beads

Learning to crochet with beads can seem daunting at first, but with lots of practice you can make so many different pieces of bead crochet jewelry!
Use good quality see beads like Miyuki so that your beading is consistent and even. Poor quality beads will look uneven and can even cause “lumps” in your beading.

other bead crochet styles

There are so many styles of bead crochet jewelry, they are limited only by your imagination! The bracelets on the far left are paired with artistan glass beads and sterling silver clasps. On the right, two or three sections of bead crochet is paired with glass or stone beads.

Bead crochet with waves & patterns

Once you learn the technique, you’ll want to explore all the different things you can do with bead crochet. The wavy bracelets on the left were made with the same bead crochet technique as the other bracelets on the page, but using different sizes of beads makes results in a “wavy” bracelet. On the right, patterned bead crochet takes more time and patience to string the beads in the correct order to make the pattern, but well worth the time spent! You can even create your own bead crochet patterns!

So many slabs…so little time!
